Sleep is essential for children’s physical and cognitive development. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), children aged 6-12 need 9-12 hours of sleep per night to support attention, behavior, learning, and emotional regulation. Chronic sleep deprivation can lead to issues like irritability, difficulty concentrating, and even weakened immunity. While the narrator’s lesson spanned a single night, the structured fatigue ensured the child understood the value of rest without prolonged harm.
